Surprising Math Tricks: The Number 37, Six-Digit Miracles, and Multiplying by 6
Whether you’re a math enthusiast or numbers are far from your comfort zone, these math number tricks never fail to amaze.
The Number 37 and Repeated Digits
- Take any three-digit number made up of identical digits (for example, 333, 666, or 777).
- Add all its digits together.
- Divide the original number by that sum.
The answer is always 37.
Example:
666 → 6 + 6 + 6 = 18 → 666 ÷ 18 = 37
A Six-Digit Number Trick That Loops Back to the Start
- Take any three-digit number and write it twice to form a six-digit number (for example, 371 → 371371).
- Divide that number by 7.
- Divide the result by 11.
- Divide once more by 13.
The answer is always your original three-digit number.
Example:
371371 ÷ 7 ÷ 11 ÷ 13 = 371
Bonus insight:
Multiplying any three-digit number by 7 × 11 × 13 (which equals 1001) produces a six-digit number that simply repeats the original:
371 × 1001 = 371371
Math Number Tricks with Multiplying by 6
- Take any even number and multiply it by 6.
- Check the result:
– The last digit of the result matches the even number you started with.
– The tens digit is exactly half of the units digit.
Example:
6 × 4 = 24 → the last digit is 4, and half of 4 is 2
