Dynamic Programming in Real Life: How Math Helps Solve Big Challenges Step by Step
When a Big Goal Feels Overwhelming
Today I decided to tackle a run of n = 34 km.
At first, the task seemed daunting. But thankfully, there is dynamic programming — with its core principle: break a complex problem down into subproblems that are easy to solve.
Applying Dynamic Programming on the Road
That is exactly what I did. I ran the first kilometer and remembered that a year ago I had already run 33 km — which means the solution for n−1 was already known and proven. And that was all I needed.
I covered the rest of the distance feeling light and at ease. Math really does help!
Dynamic Programming as a Real Life Strategy
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year! May you always find solutions to problems of any complexity.
