As some of you noticed in the comments to the previous post, 2024 was far from a simple year — mathematically speaking: 2024 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 11 × 23. The new year, 2025, is not simple either, but it has something truly special going for it: it is a perfect square year, equal to 45 squared — or, even more beautifully, equal to the square of the sum of 20 and 25.

That’s right: 2025 = 45² = (20 + 25)². Not every year gets to carry that kind of elegance.

Why 2025 Is a Perfect Square Year Worth Celebrating

A perfect square year is one that equals the square of a whole number. 2025 fits this definition perfectly. But what makes it even more remarkable is the self-referential property: take the century digits (20) and the year digits (25), add them together to get 45, and square the result — and you land right back at 2025. This kind of mathematical coincidence is genuinely rare in calendar history.
